Green Yarns Lab is a research project centred around textiles that stimulate the sense of touch through the use of three-dimensional structuring and juxtaposition of raw materials. The result is a collection of interior textiles for use, among others, as upholstery or acoustical materials. The textiles are made from Polish mountain wool, flax, hemp and caseine fibres and, as a response to the textile industry’s use of toxic dyes, we use a process of dyeing that is plant-sourced. The colours are obtained from red cabbage, reseda, sandalwood bark, apple tree leaves, apple peel, alkanet and dyer’s madder. The project was set in motion during the “Textiles of the future” course led by Aleksandra Gaca.
